The store is one of the largest in Japan, carrying seven ISSEY MIYAKE brands. A huge piece of light is suspended in the air, inspired by the origin of ISSEY MIYAKE's clothing, “a piece of cloth." The light is bent diagonally, giving it a movement from flat to three-dimensional, creating a spatial experience that changes depending on the viewing angle. Given the location of the international airport, the idea was to incorporate materials and manufacturing methods unique to Japan, and the floor is covered with smoked tiles fired using traditional methods. The smoked tiles, each with a different expression, are paired with the endlessly flat light, creating a spatial design that highlights the balance between tradition and technology.
