SEIBU Department Store Prestige Boutique is a specialty retail space featuring luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Moynat. MOMENT was responsible for the environmental design of this entire floor, creating a space with a distinct character that clearly sets it apart from other levels. In department stores where merchandise is organized by category across floors, it is common for all floors to be uniformly lit. Here, the focus was placed on intuitively conveying a mood fitting for the Prestige Boutique, by deliberately dimming the overall brightness to establish a softly shadowed space exuding a sense of luxury. The lighting in the aisles relies solely on the light spilling out from each brand’s storefronts, quietly emphasizing the presence of the brands lined up. The design theme is "VOYAGE," envisioning a luxurious journey by ship alongside exquisite goods, with this narrative subtly infused throughout every corner of the space. At the center of the floor is a dedicated pop-up space that brings fresh looks and vitality to the boutique with each new setup. Ceiling-mounted lamps with a plump silhouette, newly designed with resin molding and inspired by the sails of a sailing ship, illuminate the space with a series of floating lights that richly color this area. Additionally, a surrounding screen gradually changes over time, veiling the scene in a mist-like effect that adds depth to the setting. The escalator area, considered the entrance to the floor, features rhythmically arranged lighting and a softly rounded ceiling with a gradient that smoothly transitions from bright to dark, guiding visitors through a gentle shift in atmosphere. Furthermore, the elevator hall’s ring of light maintains spatial continuity, while display cases, silhouetted against a deep black background, use outlines of light to draw the eye. The experience shaped by light seamlessly supports the unity of this space. By expanding this intuitive harmony between merchandise and floor design across multiple floors, there lies a potential to introduce new rhythms and highlights to the overall spatial experience within the department store.
