"Matrix Reframed"

I believe the state in which Pleats Please clothing looks most beautiful is when it is “hanging.” We designed a system where hanger racks are suspended from neatly arranged boxes on the ceiling, allowing for flexible layout arrangements. For Pleats Please, which operates multiple stores worldwide, expressing a consistent store design using the same materials in every country is often challenging due to limitations in available local materials and construction resources. To address this, we standardized only the apparatus used to hang the clothing, while allowing walls and flooring to be made from locally sourced materials. This approach suggests creating Pleats Please spaces that embody the unique textures and material qualities of each region. The boxes are designed so that removing their covers allows hanger racks to be inserted, and by installing them at regular intervals on the ceiling, clothes can be hung anywhere. Additionally, these boxes don’t necessarily need to be produced locally — they can be mass-produced at a single location and exported, reducing manufacturing costs. This system aims to break away from the traditional process of “building a store where land is available.” As long as there is a floor and ceiling, it serves as a prototype for a mobile store that can create Pleats Please locations anywhere in the world. This enables delivering Pleats Please to various places within a short time frame. The beauty of Pleats Please clothing is accentuated when hanging, and above all, it is completed when worn by people around the world.
