"Art Unbound"

LOKO GALLERY is a contemporary art gallery designed by MOMENT. Centered around the exhibition space, it also incorporates functions such as a café and artist residences, with the aim of positioning the gallery as a more open presence within the city and establishing an organic connection with the urban environment. A café is located at the front of the building. The glass façade and open terrace create a gentle buffer zone between the city and art, allowing passersby and café visitors to encounter art casually and unexpectedly. The interior utilizes the depth of the site through a split-level floor plan, featuring a 60-centimeter difference in height, with the café positioned at the front and the gallery at the back. This height variation allows unobstructed sightlines from the sidewalk to the gallery while maintaining an appropriate distance to prevent excessive visual interaction between café and gallery users. Although separated by glass, the gallery and café form a single unified space, enabling visitors to view artworks from the café. Furthermore, artworks extending into the café area expand the gallery’s capacity, fostering an architectural interaction that stimulates interest in contemporary art. During exhibition preparation periods, the glass partitions remain open, allowing the creation and installation processes to be visible from outside. Not only the finished works but also their making become part of the urban landscape, seamlessly enabling a multi-layered art experience.
