"Japanese Alleys"

ESTNATION is a high-end Japanese fashion select shop. Inspired by its brand name, derived from "EAST-NATION," meaning "from the East," and embodying its identity as a Tokyo-based brand, the design concept incorporates the unique Japanese landscape, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese alleys. At every corner of these alleys, new scenes appear, naturally inviting one to venture deeper inside. This "aesthetic of depth," deeply rooted in traditional Japanese streetscapes, captures an essential aspect of Japanese sensibility and forms the core of the store's spatial design. To embody this feeling, the interior features gentle variations in floor levels, creating a complex, alley-like three-dimensional circulation path. Soft indirect lighting runs along this flow, gently guiding visitors as they move through the space. The overall color tone is based on gray, described as the "color of shadows." Layered upon this are traditional Japanese materials and details such as hand-textured oak wood, natural lacquer in vermilion, and delicate latticework, which softly diffuse natural light, bringing subtle shadows and a warm texture to the space.
