In Japan, many office buildings are leased with standard specifications of carpet tiles and system ceilings, allowing for easy move-in. However, creating a unique space often requires demolition, reconstruction, and restoration work, resulting in significant costs and extended timelines. In this project, we minimized new construction while envisioning a story that allows flexible adaptation for future relocations and expansions. The budget was focused on furniture and art — elements that can be inherited and carried forward. Rather than building and tearing down, this approach of passing on and nurturing the space represents a sustainable design philosophy. The client’s request was to spark ideas. By consolidating six affiliated companies, primarily IT consultants, into a single location, the design aims to improve spatial efficiency and increase inter-company interactions, thereby fostering new synergies. Throughout the space, 23 artworks created by nine domestic and international artists, including commissioned pieces, were installed. These works blend seamlessly into everyday scenes, providing intellectual stimulation during moments of transit and pause, and encouraging a continuous chain of creative thinking. MOMENT also designed the corporate logo “BIGr.” that unites the six companies, integrating branding into the visual environment to cultivate a sense of unity and belonging. By combining spatial design and branding, the office functions as an organic entity where individual companies connect and collaborate.
