At this BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE men’s shop, an ordinary material is reimagined.Grating—a rugged, functional grid typically found embedded in the streetscape—is elevated through simple processes: cutting, stacking, polishing, hollowing. Through these gestures, the material is transformed into the central element of the space. The varied and incidental expressions created by this combination of techniques echo the essence of BAO BAO: a form that adapts to its contents. The repeated grid of the grating and the triangular structure of the bags share a visual rhythm, bringing consistency and movement to the space. By applying precise refinement to a commonplace material, the design expands the visual language of BAO BAO. Triangular repetition is extended across the space, creating a seamless and layered experience that leads visitors toward new discoveries—and quiet immersion.
